Garrett McCown

Garrett McCown - Freelance Photographer with Group Leadership Resume

Based in Minneapolis, Garrett McCown is an established photographer with a background in group leadership. He is presently focused on portrait, event, and street photography and has recently had images selected for international juried exhibitions in Minneapolis galleries.

A Macalester College anthropology graduate, Mr. McCown served as a Macward Bound orientation leader while an undergraduate. Holding Wilderness First Aid Certification, he organized and led backpacking pre-orientation programs for incoming students which lasted a week and covered lengthy stretches of Minnesota’s Superior Hiking Trail. Mr. McCown remained a mentor to his student cohort during their first year at Macalester.

Driven to better his community, Mr. McCown also facilitated Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children at New Beginnings Behavioral Health. His compassionate leadership aided his clients in growing their life skills and progressing toward independence, positively contributing to their families.

Mr. McCown was also a social research assistant for The Schools for International Training program in Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia. He oversaw the organization and ethical integrity of the investigative processes employed in fieldwork by student researchers when collecting data from local sources. Mr. McCown also facilitated the expansion of the partner network, bringing in new voices from individuals across social classes.
